Apprentices are paired with a member of the Austin business community for a school-year long program. Apprentices set three goals with their mentors and meet monthly to discuss progress and breakdowns relating to those goals. This is a lesson in working towards specific, measurable goals. Mentors can also answer questions about challenges and successes in their own professional lives. Apprentices and Mentors learn from each other and can establish a professional connection that lasts beyond the program!
Some Mentors connect Apprentices with other professionals for informational interviews. And some Mentors host Apprentices for a Shadowing Day, where the Apprentices can see what the Mentor’s business is like. Every Mentor/Mentee experience is unique. Through this partnership, Mentors can give back to the local community, and Apprentices practice and learn professional communication skills.
